Our regular organists for Maxton – Mrs Elvira Denoon and for Newtown Mr Derek Reid, have decided to retire from playing the organ. Elvira has been the organist at Maxton for over 40 years, which is a long time. Derek was the regular organist in Newtown before he went off to France for a few years and came back just when Newtown were in need again. Derek is the choir master of the Newtown Community Choir and continues in that role. We thank both of them for their service to our Churches, and wish them well.
Presentation to Derek Reid
At Sunday morning worship in Newtown Church on 6th December, a presentation was made to Derek Reid who has retired as organist at Newtown. Derek was thanked by Rev Sheila for playing at Newtown over a number of years, as well as 'filling in' at the other churches in the Charge when needed. Derek was presented with a Milestone gift voucher and a bottle of wine. |
