This joint initiative by all the churches in the Charge (our Friday soup and sandwich lunch club) meets in the St Boswells Church Hall on Fridays from 12 noon to 1.30pm every week, with a break of two weeks over the Christmas period and a summer break of around six weeks.
The objective of the Club is to promote togetherness in the community and it is open to everyone. It is managed by a Committee consisting of Team Leaders and the Convener, Secretary and Treasurer.
There are five teams of volunteers, comprising church and community members, with a team leader and nine or ten other members who act as soup and sandwich makers, dishwashers, servers and drivers.
Transport is available on request.
Surplus funds are donated annually to charities chosen by members.
The Lunch Club is the collection point for Repeat Prescription forms for Newtown Surgery and there is also a collecting bin for Foodbank donations.
